Watch Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson Derail Ad Announcing New RUSH Beer

After so many years of enjoying Rush's brilliance on record, in concert and on film, fans of the band can now enjoy Rush in liquid form, as a beer!

Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee reunited recently at the Toronto-based Henderson Brewing company to shoot a silly ad for their new collaboration.

There's no way of knowing whether the ad got finished, based on a new teaser clip, but it does appear that the situation devolved into hilarity fairly quickly. So all parties got what they needed in the end.

The 30-second clip finds Lifeson and Lee in the heart of the Henderson Brewery, wearing tags identifying them as 'Beer Scientist' (Lifeson) and 'Beer Drinker' (Lee), suggesting there was some plan for a bit.

While it seems like they tried to stick to the script initially, the situation quickly devolved as the two Rock and Roll Hall of Famers began snickering over terms like "nozzle," "factory of beer" and "vat."

The clip was produced by Rush and Lee's brother Allan Weinrib.

The Rush Canadian Golden Ale hits stores up north, starting August 3. It's the first of three forthcoming Rush beers.

“Rush Canadian Golden Ale is golden in colour with a dense ivory head. It has an earthy aroma with hints of orange-peel, pine and spicy rye. While the emphasis is on refreshment, there are elements of pine, rye spice and a citric hop flavour that add to the subtle complexity of the beer,” remarked Alex Lifeson, the band-proclaimed Beer Scientist.

Lee explains in a press release that the band has been thinking about the beverage business for some years now, inspired by Iron Maiden's riotous success with its collaboration with Robinson Brewery over in the U.K.

In Henderson's case, the brewery is one of the fastest growing micro-breweries in Canada and previously released a limited edition Canadian Imperial Stout called "Put Your Scarf On Geddy."
