KISS's 'Definitive' Two-Part Documentary Will Air This June On A&E

A&E's long-awaited two-part KISS documentary, Biography: Kisstory, will air June 27 and June 28 at 9 p.m./8 p.m. Central Time, the network has announced.

Directed by D.J. Viola and produced by Gene Simmons: Family Jewels producer Leslie Greif in collaboration with Kiss, the forthcoming Biography installment will explore the band's near-50-year career, from the perspective of remaining co-founders and lead songwriters Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons.

The biography also includes interviews with Stanley and Simmons' longtime Kiss bandmates Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, the band's former manager Doc McGhee, producer Bob Ezrin and famous fans like Dave Grohl and Tom Morello.

"This documentary is really terrific," Stanley said Monday via Twitter. "I've seen it and it is awesome. Very proud."

Beyond interviews with people who've been in Kiss's orbit over the years, the documentary will feature footage from recording sessions, home movies and behind-the-scenes moments.

In January 2020, Kiss called upon fans to help tell the band's story for the "definitive documentary of Kiss," launching a global hunt for "rare and compelling Kiss-related media."

The band was specifically interested in photos and footage from its early days in New York City in the 1970s, and based on A&E's description of the film, they found what they were looking for. While Biography: Kisstory might be the ultimate Kiss documentary, the band is far from finished celebrating its career on-screen.

After years of dancing around the biopic idea, the band is reportedly negotiating with Netflix for a biopic called Shout It Out Loud.
