Watch Mammoth WVH Deliver First Public Performance On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

Wolfgang Van Halen led his solo band Mammoth WVH through a heartrending live version of his hit single "Distance" on Thursday night's edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

If Wolfie sounded a little nervous during the song's first verse, it was probably because the nationally-televised rendition was the band's first-ever public performance. The multi-instrumentalist settled in as soon as his band joined in, however, and delivered an honestly remarkable rendition of the track that would surely make Eddie Van Halen proud.

After years of working on his album and teasing the new music between Van Halen tours, Wolfie finally revealed the album cover and announced a June 11, 2021, release date for it earlier Thursday.

"Distance" arrived mid-November, about six weeks after Eddie died of complications from lung cancer.

Wolfgang began writing the song a couple years ago as Eddie battled one serious health problem after another. He completed the song, and was able to play it for his dad, shortly before his death.

“As my pop continued to struggle with various health issues, I was imagining what my life would be like without him and how terribly I’d miss him," Wolfgang explained in a statement accompanying "Distance" this past fall.

"While the song is incredibly personal, I think anyone can relate to the idea of having a profound loss in their life. I never intended ‘Distance’ to be the very first piece of music people would hear from me, but I also thought my father would be here to celebrate its release. This is for him. I love and miss you, Pop.”

Mammoth WVH includes Wolfgang on guitar/lead vocals, Jon Jourdan and Frank Sidoris on guitars, Ronnie Ficarro on bass and Garrett Whitlock on drums.
