Has anyone called anyone in Canada?  Are they OK?  Two seconds after the men's hockey team had their near miracle on ice last night and we were all fist pumping in celebration, I had that thought that this could just be too much to bear for host country.  You know, it's not a stretch to say that Canada as a whole would throw the entire lot of medals into the Bering Strait if they could just have their gold medal in hockey!  I know how I am after my Giants lose but losing to team U S A last night, I mean you could feel the whole country collapse when the empty netter went in to seal it.  I almost called the international operator and said "Just give me any residence in Canada, I want to call and make sure they are OK!"  Strange this would happen on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the greatest upset and victory in the history of sports, the miracle win over Russia in 1980.  I was working in Binghamton at that time and remember vividly being at my friend Glen's house for all of those games.  An amazing thing to watch and to see the whole team crowd onto the medal platform was a sight I'll never forget!  U S A!  U S A!
