What are the signs that hair loss is really affecting my life?
You know when hair loss is affecting your life when you see a difference in your self confidence. Many men seem to get shy around social situations or are affected when others point out their hair loss. How is hair loss caused? Is it genetic?
The main cause of hair loss or thinning hair is genetic predisposition meaning it’s inherited. Another name for it is male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia. It can begin at the temples and crown and result in a receding hairline and baldness on top of the head. Scientists used to think that hair loss came from the mom’s side of the family, but recent research shows that both parents contribute equally to the likelihood that you’ll develop hair loss. Aside from genetic predisposition, a number of other factors can cause hair loss. Physical and emotional stress, poor nutrition, serious illness, hormonal imbalances, certain medications, and continual hair pulling can also produce hair loss.
I think I may be starting to lose my hair. How do I know?
