'World's Oldest Metal Fan' Passes Away
Posted Tuesday, September 3rd 2013 @ 3pm

In sad news, one of metal's biggest fans passed away recently. Owen Brown, known as the "World's Oldest Metal Fan," died on August 15th at the age of 87 according to Britain's Western Daily Press.

Brown, who loved listening to bands such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, went out in style with Megadeth's "Skin of My Teeth" playing during his final funeral procession. Brown was a true metal fan, growing up in Herefordshire, England listening to his battery-powered stereo in his shed.

‘‘It’s great because I can play it as loud as I want in there," Owen told the Western Daily Press when they interviewed him a few years ago. "I can sit back with a drink and listen to Megadeth with no worries in the world."

The Western Daily Press reports that Owen leaves behind his wife of 65 years, 15 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.

The YouTube video below is from a segment on Owen Brown done back in 2009. RIP Owen Brown.
