MTA Resumes Normal Subway Service

MTA Resumes Normal Subway Service
Posted Monday, May 5th 2014 @ 6am

Subway service is back to normal after Friday's train derailment in Queens.

Trains got back on a regular schedule around 5 a.m. this morning, after crews spent the weekend repairing the track and removing the subway cars.

Friday's F train derailment resulted in 19 injuries, while hundreds of people had to be rescued from the train.  Four of the injuries were considered serious.

Six cars came off the express tracks near the 65th Street station when a rail snapped.  It happened just weeks after the rail was installed.

For the weekend, trains ran locally while work was being done.

The MTA is investigating what went wrong.

Crews are also looking at other sections of track that came in the same shipment as the damaged track.  They want to ensure that it's safe.
