Macy’s will pay $650,000 to settle accusations that it racially profiled customers at its store in Herald Square.
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office launched an investigation after multiple complaints from shoppers that they were unfairly detained.
“This agreement will help ensure that no one is unfairly singled out as a suspected criminal when they shop in New York,” Schneiderman said in a statement.
In addition to the fine, Macy’s has promised to improve employee training.
Barneys reached a similar deal earlier this month, agreeing to pay $525,000.
