Apparently a mixed-martial arts (MMA) organization has found a way around New York State's ban on the sport. According to DNAinfo New York, Victory Combat Sports will be hosting a show at Terminal 5 in Hell's Kitchen on Friday (May 17). The company claims this will be the first legally sanctioned MMA fight in New York.
The MMA company will be bringing in 26 fighters to compete in a 13-match event called "Victory in NYC." The company's founder Kevin Lillis said the event is legal because the fighters are technically amateurs and won't be paid. Therefore, the event is sanctioned by the World Kickboxing Association.
The event starts at 6:30pm Friday and tickets are available online through Ticketmaster.
